God has to be the ultimate chess player.
Playing universal simultaneous matches on infinite boards throughout time. You and I are just one of the many pieces on one of many boards. A board that gets rearranged over time back to the start once a match is over.
We may think we are a pawn on a journey to get promoted some day, while most get slaughtered somewhere along the way.
Or we may think we’re a religious bishop who can only move along on one diagonal – white or black in color, without ability to relate with the other.
Or we may believe we’re a strong rook building forts, guarding our king, protecting our wealth.
Or a valiant knight, jumping across dangerous unknowns and travelling to novel territories.
Or a powerful queen with most of the game’s responsibility.
Or a weak king with perceived importance but limited mobility.
Only to realise one day, that all each one of us is, is really just a plastic piece (yes, both humans and plastic are nothing but long chains of hydrocarbons) in a never ending series of chess games, with only one duty – to give our best in our current shape and form in this very game of life.
All of this gets me, a pawn, wondering…who is S/He playing with? It’s with them-self.
Only God knows why!
Anyhow, Good Game God.
