Building Green Sand Beaches to fight off the current Climate Crisis
Climate crisis is one of the most significant global challenges for our generations to solve. Without a thriving climate and a nurturing environment, life including humanity won’t survive on our planet.
One of the major problems in earth’s atmosphere is the extra CO2 which is causing temperatures to rise beyond control.
The good news is that this is reversible. It is possible we all make massive efforts to reverse it, taking positive people actions and implementing the right scientific interventions.
Weathering is earth’s natural way of removing CO2 from our air. For billions of years, rain falling on volcanic rocks has slowly weathered them down before flowing to the ocean, where a reaction removes CO2 from the atmosphere. In this way, as part of the long-term carbon cycle, trillions of tonnes of CO2 has been stored in rocks under the sea.
Team ProjectVesta takes the volcanic mineral olivine from below the surface directly to coastal areas to make green sand beaches.
The power of wave action breaks down the rock, and accelerates a reaction that removes harmful CO2 from the atmosphere/oceans.

Project Vesta’s approach dramatically accelerates Earth’s natural longterm CO2 removal process.
They make green-sand beaches with a highly abundant volcanic mineral, olivine. They acquire nearby olivine and transport it to beaches where wave action speeds up the carbon dioxide capture process, while also de-acidifying the ocean.
